Property operating costs, as a percentage of gross income, trended up in the first half of 2022 which put pressure on the income growth of landlords - after costs stabilised somewhat during 2021.

Among the main drivers of operating costs were electricity, rates, and other municipal charges as well as bad debts which have once again increased after moderating slightly in the six months to December 2021.
